SUMMARY:

For eight years, Ye Fei and Gu Ang, two alphas who raised their ranks in the military, were lovers and did everything together.
But then, soon after their marriage, Gu Ang asked for divorce.

Unsure of the reasons why, Ye Fei became heartbroken.

Unknown to the two of them, they woke up soon after their divorce eight years in the past; back when they were freshman; back before they ever met; back before they loved one another.

Although the two of them have different views on being reborn, the main question is whether or not this world they were reborn in was exactly the same as their old world or not.
Had they created a butterfly effect? Could they save the ones they had lost in those eight years? Were they still going to end up together?

Soon they would learn that not everything was the same….
Something was entirely different than their old world… And that was Gu Ang’s secondary gender.
He was now, unknowingly, an omega.

The sky over A9 was dark and cloudy, and the rain came pouring out like a floodgate, pattering on the car windows.
The dense falling rain was like a black velvet curtain wrapping people in it, leaving them breathless.

The black car braked sharply, the front of the car was a centimeter short of hitting a pedestrian when it stopped abruptly, almost killing them.
The fierce inertia made Gu Ang, who was resting his eyes, frown slightly, as he was disturbed by the screams of the pedestrian.

He raised his eyes slightly and was met with his expressionless self in the rearview mirror.
His long, slender eyelashes hung low, slightly hiding the deep, slender corner of his eyes.
The rainstorm reduced the light inside the car, softening his deep features and making him appear less imposing.

Gu Ang habitually scratched his knees with his fingertips.
This was the first time he noticed that the fabric he was wearing wasn’t the same as his usual military uniform.
The material was softer, the color had changed from army green to dark blue, and the size was unexpectedly fitting.

He then fiddled with the cufflinks, the buttons inlaid with a Red Flame Military University logo.
The thin calluses on his fingertips traced the texture of the carving over and over again as Gu Ang quickly recalled all the minute details.

His most recent memory was when he and Ye Fei had just divorced, and the two stood facing each other at the door.
The two of them were standing opposite each other in the doorway.
He had disappeared for ten days, and when he reappeared, he wanted a divorce, and only a gentleman like Ye Fei could maintain the last of his manners to go along with him.

“I’ll send you back.” Ye Fei’s voice was very soft, his last word hoarse as if he had stood too long in the rain.

In the background, it was also raining, annoyingly heavy, an umbrella could barely cover the two people.
Ye Fei tilted most of the umbrella towards him and the rain dripped on his shoulder hitting the five-star medal, causing a small wet stain, as it became the final frame of a scene.

There was a small fragment of blankness and a subtle murmur of sound, as if someone was getting into the car, after which his memory abruptly ended.

“Fuck… This auntie was walking without looking at the road, whose fault will it be if someone gets knocked over? Since it’s an almost driverless era with almost zero car accidents, I’m afraid they’re doing this to scam for compensation.” These words interrupted his contemplation and Gu Ang raised his eyes to the side to look over at the chattering Bai SiNing.

“Xiao Bai.” Gu Ang let these words escape his mouth, but when he saw the face in front of him, which was much more youthful than before, it made him pause for a moment.

“Huh?” Bai SiNing’s voice stopped, “Am I disturbing your sleep? We’ll reach the school soon in only three more minutes.”

The chatty mouthful of words reached Gu Ang’s ears, but he was a bit surprised.

Bai SiNing had been with him for a few years as a lieutenant.
He was normally gloomy and silent, while on the battlefield they had tacit cooperation with a perpetual detachment.

Now the mopey thing had become a chatterbox, stammering so much that his brain hurt.

Gu Ang lifted the corner of his mouth into an almost snicker, then his eyes fell onto a freshman pin on Bai SiNing’s chest, with the hot gold words Red Flame Military University printed above it.

A young Bai SiNing, military school uniform, new student volunteer, fragmented memories; Gu Ang’s made a bold and wild guess.

He probably traveled back to the time when he enrolled a few years ago.

Then… what about Ye Fei who was with him?

The only scene left in the rainstorm was the black umbrella, and the face with an unreadable expression flashed in his mind.

Gu Ang folded his legs and stretched his neck without moving, deliberately prying into the current situation.

“How many days have you been a volunteer?”

“Today is the last day.
I’m tired of picking up people one by one, but I’ve met many of the rumored gods in advance, so I’m quite happy.” Bai SiNing rubbed the palms of his hands, smiled dryly and continued, “So… that… do you have some kind of connection? I saw that your entrance exam results were kinda at the bottom…”

The first from the bottom, but Bai SiNing didn’t dare to tell him.

“My old man donated a building.” Gu Ang lazily splayed his legs, simply spewing an explanation.

At this moment, he was sure that he had indeed returned back to eight years ago, he was only eighteen years old, in his freshman year.
He had been a dodgy student, but he had become an imperial admiral thanks to that man.

But, was there such a thing as volunteers at that time? He felt that the current storyline was a little different from the previous one.

This wasn’t the point, if he knew which bastard brought him back to eight years ago, he would have tied this person in the mecha hanging upside down for three days to vent his anger!

The titular star of the Empire, the shield of toughness, with a war record of countless victories, people were scared of Admiral Gu Ang, but, at this moment, he let out a deep sigh and threw out a few cuss words internally, all while looking calm on the outside.

Forget it, he was here already anyways, he might as well wait and see.

—

The car stopped steadily at the entrance of the military school and Bai SiNing grabbed an umbrella from the right side of the car.
The two umbrellas instantly opened to block the still strong rainstorm, tapping against the waterproof fabric.

He wasn’t prejudiced against the school tyrant behind him, and held the car door for Gu Ang, before gesturing for him to get out.
His service was nothing if not enthusiastic.

Gu Ang stretched his long legs, took one of the umbrellas and closed the car door behind him, “Thank you.”

“You don’t need to worry about your luggage, there will be other volunteers to help you bring them to the dormitory later.” Bai SiNing seemed to have an inexhaustible amount of energy, as he flashed his two small dimples and his eyes couldn’t stop looking at the pedestrians coming and going, “There are a lot of people at our school today.”

“It’s the start of a new school term, of course there’s a lot of people,” Gu Ang loosened his tie and looked around.

“You don’t know, these people are all here to see the freshman battle.
Our Red Flame freshmen bring top traffic.
I just looked at StarNet, and there are already over a million people online before it’s even live.” Bai SiNing winked at him, “Say, do you think there are any fans of mine among them?”

Before even finishing his question, a sweet female voice interrupted him, “Student, please give way.
You’re blocking my shot of this handsome man.”

Bai SiNing turned around and saw a group of giggling girls crowding each other, all with shy expressions while holding their devices to take pictures of Gu Ang.

Come on, did he bring his own fan club?

Bai SiNing pursed his lips and retreated to the side, his mouth still muttering unsatisfied, “Flashy.”

Gu Ang swept a glance over, moved his wrist slightly to angle the umbrella away, and an impeccable face cooperatively appeared in their shot.
The corner of his eye wrinkled up and he raised one of his eyebrows flirtatiously.

“Oh my god! He’s too handsome.”

“I don’t even dare to look him in the eye.”

“I’m dead, I’m dead.”

The girls whispered while frantically taking pictures.
After feeling like they had really lost their cool, they huddled together again and ran away with shy smiles.

“You’re so charming.” Bai SiNing touched his nose and looked sourly1 at Gu Ang, who was half a head taller than him, “That’s the natural attraction of a handsome alpha, right?”

“I guess so.” Gu Ang put one hand in his pocket, his tone neutral.

If it weren’t for the fact that he and Ye Fei were both alphas, they wouldn’t have reached the point of divorce.

He sometimes thought that it would’ve been better if the two of them had been an alpha and omega couple.
If Ye Fei was an omega, he would be able to hold that arrogant man underneath, watch him struggle and the brim of his eyes turn red; it would give him such an accomplished sense of conquest.

Fuck, I must stop thinking about it, my blood is boiling.

Gu Ang raised his hand, readjusted his umbrella, and continued to walk towards the assembly area of the freshman battle.
He had just taken two steps before he stopped in his tracks.

The group of girls who had just taken a picture of him instantly swarmed over another man

The man’s long legs were wrapped in a form-fitting dark blue military pants, making them even more well-proportioned and slender.
The gold buttons were buttoned to the top, and the black tie was neatly pressed in place, looking all prim and proper.

A black umbrella blocked most of his face, revealing only his high nose and thin lips, which made people even more curious to take a closer look.
He was standing at the entrance of the school by the gate, his fingertips still holding an unfinished cigarette, the thin smoke floating like an invisible line separating him and the crowd.

Gu Ang felt like his legs were pinned down in place.
Even though the two were the same class term, he didn’t expect to run into the other so soon.

After a few seconds, he felt an unexplainable form of relief, as if the fluttering bird in his chest had fallen out of its nest.

The girls moved the shutter of their cameras over to his face and as they were just about to press the shutter, Ye Fei simply angled the umbrella to fully block the remaining half of his face.

A little distant, a little aloof, such a polite and silent refusal was very Ye Fei.

The girls were quite sensible and realized that he didn’t want to be photographed.
So, the love struck fools took only a few more looks before dispersing.

“Damn, isn’t that God Ye?” Bai SiNing howled, “Such a good-looking alpha also has strong fighting skills.
He should give us pitiful and ordinary people some leeway to live, right?”

“You know him?”

Bai SiNing turned his head, looking at him as if he was an idiot, “First of all, bro, who doesn’t know him? There should be no surprises in today’s freshman battle results.”

As if he heard the conversation between the two, Ye Fei raised his umbrella upward again, revealing a pair of indifferent eyes.
The moment the two locked eyes, Gu Ang could feel his heart twitch, feeling that the quiet, unruffled eyes were shooting daggers at him, but after a second, his heart regained its calmness with great control, as if it were all just an illusion.

The heavy rain made his already cold aura seem even colder.

Gu Ang’s brows wrinkled slightly, speculating on the possibility that this person traveled back in time reborn with him.

He took two steps forward and said tentatively, “Classmate, it’s not good to smoke in a public area where people are coming and going, is it?”

Ye Fei raised his eyes and stared at Gu Ang for two seconds with a slight scrutiny, his Adam’s apple moving slightly.

The moment seemed to have stopped and tension grew in the atmosphere.

Gu Ang raised his eyebrows, openly accepting the probing look from the person across him.

The man raised his right hand expressionlessly, sending the cigarette that he held loosely in his fingertips to his mouth.
His cheeks sunk slightly, and a mouthful of smoke slowly spilled out.
He ignored the question, turned around and walked away.

The smoke clouded his vision, and when Gu Ang was brought back to his senses from the situation where he met his ex-lover again for the first time, all that was left was the said person’s back, moving even further away.

According to his understanding of Ye Fei, although he had always been distantly polite, it was rare for him to make this kind of ungentlemanly behavior.

No matter how he looked at it, that puff of smoke was filled with love and hate.

Or maybe, freshman Ye Fei always had such a cocky look that looked like he was asking to be hit.

Gu Ang withdrew his stare that went deep into thoughts, just to see Bai SiNing, who had a face that looked like he was waiting for the former to spill the tea.

Gu Ang relaxed his expression and asked casually, “What’s wrong?”

“Why even bother? He didn’t even want to talk to you.” Bai SiNing wrinkled his nose, “That’s so God Ye, though.
He’s too cool.”

“Because I dumped him.”

Bai SiNing’s eyes widened, “Huh?”

“Just kidding.” Gu Ang shrugged and flashed a scornful smile.

Bai SiNing rubbed his chest, “Good one.”

Gu Ang added, “Jokes aside, I used to defeat him.”

Bai SiNing tried to paint a picture in his mind and couldn’t hold back a throaty snorting laugh.

Not only is he flashy, has a rich family and handsome, he’s so good at bragging, one can die from laughing!

This time, he played along with the flunkie who ranked first (from the last place), by patting his shoulder, “Yes, I really believe you.
